Merry Christmas!

Wishing you all a great Christmas from all of us here in Manado xxx
Yes our tree is homemade, be kind though the boys made themselves from driftwood they collected on the beach.

The Megamas Christmas tree in town looks a bit more appropriate at the moment. It stands there all year but gets decorated differently for Easter, Ramadan, or whatever.

The beautiful ladies who lunch...

We are very sad to see our friends Ali and Alan leave Manado. December seems to be a brutal time to be an expat here as last week we lost Bill and Rani to Australia and this week our dear friends Simon and Ranti will also be heading south. We are sad to just find out that Deb and Ross will also be hitting the airport on Monday and the amazing Bonnie will be heading back to the States before Christmas. I guess it should be expected as part of the expat lifestyle and it is natural that there is an ebb and flow of people in Manado, but it does hit you hard when you have so many good times together and shared experiences.

We will miss you all!

Pasar 45...again

I spent a few hours walking around having fun in Pasar 45 again, just one camera and a 50mm standard lens, just like when I first started photographing in 1996 with a Pentax K1000 and a 50mm.

I spent about ten minutes talking to the man in the first picture as he was waiting for his wife to return from buying a huge stove top aluminium oven for Christmas cookie baking. He is a fellow resident of our little part of Manado, Batu Kota or Rock City as I translate it into English.

What I do all day.

Well I still get my coffee break....

Don't worry everything is going to be amazing...

Teman Manado

Manado makes photography easy, there is even trash especially placed in the sea to help you focus.

Oh and on the land as well.

I'm aspiring to be a photographer who needs to wear shades in the day.
